Representative industry bodies
The sport and recreation industry is represented by industry bodies.
Representative bodies represent specific segments of the sports industry. They have an important and integral
role to play in the long-term development, professional education and
strategic positions of the sector.
They draw on large membership bases, focused primarily on competition. They seek
to present the views of a largely structured, formal and sports-specific segment of the active community.
They represent their member organisations and provide a forum for discussion at the highest level on matters such as policy and regulations. In most instances they are the voice of the sector when it comes to being heard at government level on issues such as funding.
As you can see from the following list, some industry sectors have their own representative body. However, all sports work under the umbrella of the WA Sports Federation.
