WA Week 2009 will take place from 19–25 October, and small grants are offered as part of the celebrations.
WA Week aims to:
- Foster community pride, confidence and inclusiveness
- Develop rewarding and enduring partnerships between all sectors
- Highlight all aspects of Western Australia's achievements and potential
- Promote the State's unique history, heritage and culture
- Recognise achievement and contribution
- Provide funding opportunities

Grants of up to $15,000 are allocated without a requirement to provide a matching cash contribution. From $15,001 upwards, applicants need to demonstrate a matching contribution, some of which may be “in kind”.
The Department of Sport and Recreration (DSR) in partnership with Healthway is launching a new and improved Smarter than Smoking Country Sport Scholarship Program for 2009/10.
Community sport and recreation groups across Western Australia will share $20million in State Government grants under the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).
The Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) has been revamped to ensure more money is spent on a wider range of sport and recreation projects.
The Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) is proud to be facilitating the offering of up to $45,000 in sports scholarships per year from the D'Arcy Slater Foundation.
Due to an overwhelming demand for grants through our Community Participation Funding, the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) will hold future allocation of funding to projects through this scheme until at least August 2009.
The Department of Sport and Recreation has rolled its Champions to the Region (CTR) funding scheme into its Country Sport Enrichment Scheme (CSES) in a bid to make applying for funding a clearer and easier process for applicants.
