Creating healthy, active workplaces

The workplace is an important part of many Western Australians' lives. On average, employees spend about a third of their waking hours at work. During the past 50 years the nature of work and the work/leisure balance have changed. Today’s working environment is contributing to inactive lifestyles, stress and alarmingly high rates of preventable disease.

Online Employee Health and Wellbeing Survey

The resource kit for physical activity and health in the workplace highlights the need for workplace health and wellbeing programs to be based on the needs of their staff.

The Healthy Active Workplaces initiative

The Department of Sport and Recreation's partner in this program is the Premier's Physical Activity Taskforce, which has commenced the Healthy Active Workplaces initiative.
