The workplace is an important part of many Western Australians' lives. On average, employees spend about a third of their waking hours at work. During the past 50 years the nature of work and the work/leisure balance have changed. Today’s working environment is contributing to inactive lifestyles, stress and alarmingly high rates of preventable disease.
The Healthy Active Workplaces initiative
The Department of Sport and Recreation's partner in this program is the Premier's Physical Activity Taskforce, which has commenced the Healthy Active Workplaces initiative.
Why invest in workplace health and physical activity?
Investing in workplace health and physical activity programs is part of the solution. Research and practice shows these programs will positively impact on employees and organisations. Implementing a comprehensive workplace health and physical activity program can mean happier, healthier and more productive employees.
